AELP launch General Election Guide and Toolkit
The Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) has today launched its exclusive members’ guide and toolkit designed to support training providers engage with MPs and candidates ahead of the forthcoming UK General Election.
With a General Election set to be called by the end of the year, AELP is calling on its members to meet candidates running for election to show the impact training providers make in local communities right across the country.
The General Election Guide and Toolkit is an exclusive benefit for AELP members, and includes information on why it is crucial to engage with candidates; how to organise a visit to a provider or local employer; top tips on helping candidates understand the role providers play; and how to encourage staff and learners to register to vote.
Ben Rowland, AELP Chief Executive, said:
"I am really excited about the upcoming general election as it is a massive opportunity to shape the future of skills provision in the UK. Our economy is struggling with flatlining productivity and significant skills shortages. What we do as a sector is huge for the country, equipping people of all ages with the skills they need to flourish in their workplaces. But we need AELP members to help ensure that the voice of independent training providers is heard, and that current and future MPs understand that economic growth needs investment in skills.
“I am calling on all AELP members to engage with their local candidates ahead of the general election. It is particularly important to invite candidates to visit learners and employers - giving them first-hand experience of the excellent work the sector does, and to understand the challenges providers face. AELP is on hand to provide further advice and guidance in supporting its members to do this – so with hundreds of members, right across the country, just imagine the impact we can have together.”
