AELP celebrates achieving flagship diversity award
The Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) are celebrating this week after receiving confirmation that the organisation has been awarded ‘Investors in Diversity’ accreditation by the National Centre for Diversity (NCfD).
The Investors in Diversity Award is recognised as a national equality standard, showing that AELP takes the values of fairness, respect, equality, diversity, inclusion and engagement (FREDIE) seriously. It enables organisations to take a structured and planned approach to embedding equality and diversity at the heart of what they do, and provides a simple framework in which to do so.
AELP has been working closely with the NCfD in order to achieve the flagship Investors in Diversity accreditation since April 2021. Achieving Investors in Diversity status shows that the organisation is taking an all-encompassing approach to the effective management of equality, diversity and inclusion.
The last twelve months have seen AELP take important strides on their journey to become a more inclusive and diverse employer – in June, AELP were revealed to be one of the country’s Top 50 most inclusive workplaces by the NCfD. More recently, AELP held its first ever Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) summit in September 2022, bringing together attendees to discuss how the skills sector can embed effective ED&I into its practices.
"We’re absolutely delighted to have been awarded ‘Investors in Diversity’ status by the National Centre for Diversity. This achievement is testament to the way in which everyone within AELP has been working hard to ensure that fairness, respect, equality, diversity, inclusion and engagement are embedded into everything we do.
“Everybody, no matter what their background, should be able to reach their potential, and this is an important step on our journey to be a leading employer when it comes to diversity. A huge thank you must go to all our staff, members and stakeholders – as well as the National Centre for Diversity – in helping us to achieve this. We are determined to continue working hard to promote these values to show the importance of supporting diversity in the workplace.”
Jane Hickie, Chief Executive, AELP
"We are delighted that AELP have achieved the Investors in Diversity Award, and I would like to extend our congratulations to their leaders, staff and members on their success to date. By engaging wholeheartedly with the Investors in Diversity programme, they have demonstrated a real and tangible commitment to Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement (FREDIE) and to continuous improvement in this area.
“We are confident that staff and leadership at AELP will continue to work on improving and adapting and look forward to working with them in years to come.”
