Overview
This session will unpack the apprenticeship funding rules for learning support (LS). We will look at some of the key compliance considerations that should be addressed when:
- Assessing learning difficulty;
- Planning a relevant programme of support;
- Evidencing delivery of learning support;
- Evaluating whether it is necessary and appropriate for support to continue.
Separate to Learning Support, we will also discuss the new flexibility for Functional Skills for apprentices with learning difficulties or disabilities.
An opportunity to understand ESFA expectations, reflect on your own procedures, establish best practice and to ask questions.
Objectives
The objectives are aligned with the ESFA’s expectations. The ESFA expect providers to:
- Put reasonable adjustments in place for learners who require them;
- Decide on the suitability of your screening and assessment methods;
- Ensure learning support is relevantly applied and appropriately claimed;
- The points above will then enable providers to be confident in claiming learning support funding;
- They will compliment your efforts to meet the moral and legal requirements of inclusion, and equality and diversity.
Also, to confidently determine when an apprentice should be required only to achieve Entry 3 Functional Skills.
